Holistic Alternatives for Pets With Cancer

Dr. Barry Hindmarch, Holistic Vet, at Cape Animal Medical Clinic, used to deal mainly with pain management. Today, 50% of his patients are there for the treatment of cancer. In the past he treated about 4 dogs and cats, per month, for cancer. Now, he sees about 15 per week.

"Cancer, he claims, is due to feeding highly processed foods and exposing our pets to toxic and dangerous chemicals and poisons. The treatment and prevention thereof, relates to protecting and strengthening their immune system. This is achieved by feeding wholesome diets that include a high vegetable content, good quality omegas and natural supplements and pro-biotics. One should also refrain from using chemical flea poisons and rather look at natural remedies, like Khakibos, diatomaceous earth and regular combing."

Friends of Vondi's were totally enlightened by South Africa’s top Homeopathic Vet. They were wined and dined, thanks to their sponsors and African Tails, the beneficiary welfare of the evening, went home with some added funds in their coffers.

Make sure you do not miss the next "Friends of Vondis", 4th December in aid of Animal Rescue Team, with guest speaker from "Pets as Therapy"

Dr Barry Hindmarch, offers alternative treatment options for your pet - Acupuncture, homoeopathy and Chinese herbal medicine .

At a time when high-technology medicine is pushing back barriers in diagnosing and treating disease, natural medicine is also enjoying a remarkable renaissance. His Acuvet clinic aims to provide an integrated, holistic approach to animal health care.  As such it sees itself as complementary to general veterinary practice and the other, highly specialised clinics within Cape Animal Medical Centre.

The Acuvet Clinic was founded in August 1999. It was one of the first veterinary clinics within South Africa to offer a referral service for holistic therapies.
