A quaint and unusually shaped building, Gnome Cottage is a very comfortable, pet friendly venue with a pretty, securely fenced garden. The cottage features a double bed, an en-suite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchenette for self catering, and a living and dining area. Quality linen, towels, complementary hospitality tray and toiletries are supplied and there is outdoor furniture and braai facilities in the garden. In winter, heating is provided with a down duvet and electric blanket on the bed for added warmth.

Nearby is access to a wide choice of hiking/running/biking trails in the conservation area and not far away are two excellent golf courses, superb trout fishing, historic explorations (fossil sites, dinosaur trails and bushman paintings), horse riding, tennis courts and game viewing at Golden Gate National Park. Numerous other outdoor activities are also available, and there is snow skiing in Lesotho, about 90 kms away. The magical sandstone mountains and wonderful climate make Clarens one of the most picturesque and popular getaway spots in South Africa, justly deserving the title of “Jewel of the Free State".
