Montego Pet Nutrition Maintain Global Recognition

Proudly South African pet food manufacturer Montego Pet Nutrition has achieved an international milestone, in the form of an FSSC 22000 certification.

Once certification is obtained, it enables a food supplier to assure that its food has been produced, prepared and handled according to the most recognised standards. It also demonstrates a top level of commitment to food safety processes, continual improvement and enables access to top retailers.

Certification is granted to food manufacturing companies, by accredited, licensed and certified bodies, once extremely strenuous standards have been implemented and a painstaking double audit has been passed.

Montego Pet Nutrition Marketing Manager Wilfred Cawood says that the certification, which covers the company’s processes for the manufacture of dry pet food for cats and dogs, is a testament to the work and quality that have become Montego hallmarks.

“Hard work and the determination to produce top quality dog food at affordable prices ensured Montego Pet Nutrition’s continued success in the marketplace. As a member of the Pet Food Industry, we embarked on the venture obtaining its FSSC 22000 status for its manufacturing facility in Graaff Reinet five years ago. The road to certification was a long and difficult one, and it was essential for all staff in the company to work together to reach this milestone”.

After years of hard work and determination, the final audit took place in September 2015, Montego Pet Nutrition passed the audit with flying colors. The auditor was very impressed with the manufacturing plant and the high standard of its food safety management system. He said Montego Pet Nutrition was one of the cleanest and most hygienic factories he had ever audited.

The strenuous standards associated with the FSSC 22000 certification means that Montego Pet Nutrition customers can be assured that the world-class product they feed their beloved pets is always nutritious, safe and free from any hazards.
