Prospective owners are first interviewed verbally and then a personal home check is made, before an adoption is finalised. Animals have to be treated as part of the family and need to sleep indoors. A second pet needs to be adopted if the owner works all day. Dog, puppy, cat and kitten food as well as soft tinned food Cat Litter Polar fleece blankets for the winter (the grey blankets sold in pet shops cannot be washed in the washing machine as they disintegrate) Polar fleece is lightweight, warm and easy to wash and quick to dry Collars for dogs and puppies Washing powder for a front loader machine A new industrial washing machine - our second hand machine is struggling to cope and keeps breaking down Sponsor the sterilisation of a dog or cat from a deprived area Sponsor the transport on Fridays of the learners who participate in our youth enrichment projects (See under Community Work on our website) Sponsor the lunch on Fridays of the learners who participate in our youth enrichment projets (See under Community Work on our website) . We are willing to collect if you are in the area, or you can arrange delivery for us at our premises Cost for Adopt A Pet - Subject to Change It costs R600 to adopt a dog and R550 to adopt a cat, the adoption fee includes; the first inoculation, de-worming, anti-flea treatment, sterilisation (if an adult), an identity disk and a microchip. In the case of puppies and kittens, the sterilisation fee is paid in advance and when the sterilisation is due, the owner is notified to take the animal in to the nearest veterinary practice which assists ADOPT-A-PET.
